How long will it take me to complete the course?Our barber licensing program consists of a total of 1000 hours as required by Washington state law. Completion can take between 4 to 7 months depending on your schedule and active commitment. Students are required to commit to a minimum of 20 hours/week.

How much will it cost? Do you offer payment plans?Our barber program tuition is priced at $2000 which covers 1000 hours of coursework and hands-on experience with real clients. In addition, students are required to purchase the $1500 barber kit which supplies you with the essential, high-quality materials and tools needed to kickstart your barber career. Students can pay the full $3500 upon initial enrollment or, pay the $2000 downpayment to start and the remaining cost of $1500 at $500/month.

When should I enroll?Federal Way Barber College is open enrollment. We just ask that you hold an eager, ready-to-learn attitude, and we canāt wait to have you on board!

What kind of schedule do you require?One of the greatest perks about Federal Way Barber College is that we work with your schedule. We understand that lives can get busy and that our students have other priorities as well. Thatās why our students are able to come in and learn 7 days a week at their convenience. As long as weāre open, weāre happy to have you!

Do I need experience to enroll?No, you do not need any experience to enroll. Just bring your willingness to learn and the drive to excel, and weāll guide you to success!

Do you require a high school diploma or GED for enrollment?No. No high school diploma, GED, or degree is necessary.

How old do I need to be to sign up?You must at least be 16 years old to enroll. Please note that WA state requires you to be at least 17 years old in order to take the licensing exam.

Is the licensing exam only in English?The barber licensing exam consists of two components: the written and the practical. The written exam may be completed in English, Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese. You can select the language preference when applying for the exam. All practical exams are administered in only English.
